Is there any chance they might be able to show a vugraph of a matchpoint event like the blue ribbon pairs at the fall nationals? It almost always seems like everything is imps and some would love to see matchpoints. I know the Bridge Wolrd once wrote an article where they just overed the same two boards during the final sessions.

thanks

The ACBL does broadcast the Resinger (Board-a-match) once a year.

You'd have to talk someone at the ACBL or elsewhere into trying a pure MP event. I suspect following the same 2 boards thru a field would bore most of us to death, but that observing a stationary NS might be fun.

We do have MP events on BBO vugraph at least 4 times a year. Uday mentioned one, and here are 3 others:

The Grand Tournament, Bergen, Norway, in January.
The Norwegian Summer Festival, Norway, in July.
The Hecht Cup, Copenhagen, Denmark, in August.

In order to make MP broadcasts exciting for the spectators, you need a barometer format with (almost) instant results service on an internet web site. The Scandinavians are very good at that.

We will of course welcome still more MP events, but we reserve the right to make sure that the conditions are acceptable for everyone involved.

Matchpoint events with 2-board rounds also tend to be a bit slow, as there's lots of waiting around between rounds. The existence of the Vugraph is also more of a handicap than in a teams event with 8+ board rounds, as the moves in and out of the vugraph room slow things down even further.

However as Roland says there are occasional MP events.

We also had the Generali Masters and the Prokom tournament
from Warsaw, but we must also keep in mind that the current
version of BBO viewer is not well adapted to matchpoints.
