I must be missing something. Partner heard me open and invited me to bid game. One school of invites says 'bid game if you have a reason to' and the other, to which I belong, says 'bid game unless you have a reason not to'. Either way, I have a reason not to (I barely have an opening, and the trump Q is not as useful, opposite 4 pieces, as it might be, since the suit may be 2-2), and I have no reason to, either.

As for the risk of balancing: when was the last time you saw even nv opps balance on this auction?

Midnight Swiss's are not the wild parties they were when I first played in them, but even then, I wouldn't have bid game.
