matchpoints, playing strong club, unfavorable.

1C - (3D) - 4C - (5D)
Dbl - (p) - ??
Do you agree with 4C or would you perhaps prefer a direct jump to 6C?
Now what?

Blackwood over 3♦ would have been nice if that's available in your methods. Here I think you've basically been railroaded into 6♣.

I think, at the table, I'd jump to 6♣. If partner has a bare minimum for his opener, we might not make it, but I would expect RHO to bounce, which will put a crimp in things if I try to get scientific. 5♣ is too wimpy. Having started with 4♣, I have to bid 6 now.
We might even have 7. If we do, hopefully partner will bid it.

This is quite tough.
He is minimum as he didn't make a forcing pass. We've got quite nice a hand, but if we move too much we might get ourselves an absolute zero score. At IMP's a 6♣ bid is clear-cut I think because we can't let opps kill our slam and give us but 500. I'd probably bid 6♣ here also cause partner will have the 2 major aces quite often for his strong ♣ and slam is quite easy to make afterwards. We might even find a super light 6NT while we're at it. But it can turn out to be very very wrong to bid on.
Oh and yes, I absolutely agree with 4♣. Why not make a simple scientific bid in lieu of a simple flair-bid? Opps do NOT always bid on to the 5 level.

... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I would have bid 6C the 1st time. There's no flair about it. Other than checking for aces, if pard opens a strong NT and you know most of his hand isnt opposite your stiff, what would you do?
6C is probably wrong and we are off two aces. What else is new?

WTF@ bidding 6C immediately? I really dont understand it. We don't need much for grand and we will often miss it if we just bid 6C, we could stop in 5C after bidding 4C when it's right. What's the rush?

Thank you Justin.
A friend of mine gave me this hand yesterday, I told him he should have bid a normal 4C (he didn't). I predicted a unanimous panel for 4C first and then 6C (although I said someone might mention 5NT as a grand slam try in clubs) but I was way off apparently. Teaches me never to expect unamity on BBF.
Partner had AKQxx AQxx Kxx x. If you have any ideas on how to reach 6NT, I would like to hear about it. I think it is too tough.
