Assignment #1: Write a poem about Baseball and God

And on the ninth day, God
In His infinite playfulness
Grass green grass, sky blue sky,
Separated the infield from the outfield,
Formed a skin of clay,
Assigned bases of safety
On cardinal points of the compass
Circling the mountain of deliverance,
Fashioned a wandering moon
From a horse, a string and a gum tree,
Tempered weapons of ash,
Made gloves from the golden skin of sacrificial bulls,
Set stars alight in the Milky Way,
Divided the descendants of Cain and Abel into contenders,
Declared time out, time in, stepped back,
And thundered over all of creation:
"Play ball!"

How about bridge and the devil?

To punish and to torment man,
the devil came up with a devious plan.
"I'll make them squeal and squirm" said he,
"and for those trials, they'll pay a fee!"

"No matter what and come what may,
the most afflicted will still play,
unable to satisfy their fix,
by trumping aces and losing tricks."

"And to complete my evil design,
a punishment far from the divine,
to make it all the more hard,
they'll have to play it with a pard!"

I would imagine, however, that in hell, all games are howell movements with a bumping pair (is that even possible?!) with 4 min per board and no late plays. Committees are also somewhat dangerous considering the penalty for appeals without merit...
