Do you use "lol" in live speech? Irregardless of your first answer, do you consider using "lol" in live speech dorky?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I use LOL in speech but not lol.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

No, but I can remember it has come up in conversations with friends..
Yeah, dorky but it still kinda makes you laugh.

Only when I talk about painting in Hungarian. Otherwise it's definitely dorky.

I don't believe you, JLol

I must admit I once thought "lol" - never outright said it. Consider me mind-dorky, then.

However I've said "OMFG" (or was it "Umff" or "Oommf"?) one or ten times during my goalkeeping days, when I was hit hard in certain parts of the body.

Would that be the same dork that says "quote-unquote" and uses 2 fingers of each hand to "make" the marks as he is saying the word? :)

I have a friend who says 'BRB' and find it kind of amusing.

'LOL' though is just dumb because obviously you aren't laughing.

"And then we sat down opposite a couple of LOL's and they cleaned our clocks."

Other than that usage a definite "NO" and a definite "YES".

I wouldn't use lol in actual speech, I'd laugh instead!

Yeah, me too, Paul, but that's because I work telephone support (which means, by definition, there are a lot of 'WTF' moments), and if a client one of my colleagues is helping heard me use the expanded version, I might get fired.

OTOH, the best part of my job is that I don't support end-users; the people calling me are expected to have admin-quality computer knowledge. So they're quality 'WTF' moments...

I frequently say "double" when I disagree with someone. Gets some strange looks from non bridgeplayers
