MP's
Yesterday I had a hand like the above. What do you call?
DBL's is takeout, but partner will often pass it. 4NT is 2-suited, but maybe you can also bid that with 3 suit?
What change is needed to your hand to change the bid between pass <=> DBL/4NT?

Pass. Double will lead to some really good scores (mostly when partner bids) but more bad scores. At IMPs I would double.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I would double at any form of scoring. You'd have to take away at least a Q for me to pass.

If you don't double on these hands you get robbed blind. Obvious double.

Double for take-out looks completely normal.

when I read han's post I really though he was kust joking saying pass, because double would lead to a good result and poor opponents don't deserve it or something like. I though all serious players would double here.

this seems to be a thread between pass and dble, I thought it was going to be between dble and 4N :P

I would dble. I would imagine that when partner passes -1 and = are both fairly common. I would imagine the long term expectation is not that high in that respect, but if partner can bid, then your almost certainly onto a massive win with this hand.

or something could be a double game swing.

EDIT: I didnt notice it was MP. In that case I think it its probably close to a pass. +200 would be a massive win, but you will get plenty of field protection in 4s-1 undoubled. Also, rho will have a better hand to raise the preempt normally at MP particularly are red vs green. I would still dble, but it feels close now.

The actual hand doesn't matter, partner should always pass with 3334.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I double, in any form of scoring.

Even after i just read that 4 doubled making.

The hand is very defensive... think I'd pass, but dbl might work out fine here.

I don't know whether or not RHO has a decent hand. If so, we could be in trouble.

Depending on who my partner and opponents are, I would pass or double. I would like to bid 4NT for 3 suits.

It is very tempting to bid something. As I remember, most of the time pass is the right thing to do.

What do you mean "Gamble yet"? If you are not going to double do you think your partner will? Dream on.

"Yet"?? The auction is over if we pass!

I'd Dbl. Seeing the description of Dbl, Koen already told us that Dbl would work out poorly. :P
