Thanks for the feedback. I think the long-term solution would be to switch to 2/1.

Then you can contribute to the threads where the 2/1 crew post hands where they're just shy of a 2/1 and struggle to sort them out. Inverted minors make this sort of thing much easier. All systems have their good points (well some are probably without redeeming features completely other than to their creators), and their slight/glaring holes, you just have to balance these and play what you feel comfortable with.

I would respond 1NT with trepidation. Clearly, the lack of honors in the majors is a drawback, and the hand could have a lot of playing strength in diamonds opposite a fitting hand. But I do not play a natural 2♦ response in any of my partnerships, and the hand does not fit into any of the three ranges that I can show - inverted raise (game forcing), limit raise (3♣) or preemptive raise. At least the 1NT response is right on HCP and shape.
I have some admiration for the choice made - 2♣. It got you to the right contract from the right side. It was an overbid, just as 1NT is an underbid. You get an 11 in Master Solvers Club for arriving at 3NT from your partner's side.

It's an acronym for "fixed your post", usually it's used to a humorous effect by replacing a small part of the quoted text to greatly exaggerate or completely void it of the original meaning (and thus expressing strong agreement or disagreement), on these forums it's used in a broader sense.
And thanks again everyone.

When partner opens 1m in standard bidding, he has a weak no trump hand (i.e. 12-14 balanced) a LOT of the time. It makes sense to ask yourself "where would I want to be opposite a weak no trump?", especially in competition. Imagine random balanced 12-14 counts and you'll see that 1NT will be a great contract usually.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

If playing strong NT and inverted raises I agree there is a decent case for 1NT but it still feels really bad with support for partner's suit and nothing in the majors. I would be tempted to overbid slightly with 2♦ inverted.
