I would say that item (1) is irrelevant in f2f bridge as well, since the imperative to avoid miss-informing opponents is stronger than the desire to avoid giving UI to partner.

But many jurisdictions have the rule that you're not supposed to alert non-alertable bids. One reason is to avoid confusing the opponents (they'll think you're playing something less "standard" than you are), but another is presumably to avoid prompting them to ask, and then you'll have UI when you explain. In this case, the potential UI is worse than the MI, since the opponents are expected to assume the correct meaning of your bid without the alert.

How does any UI arise when I go to explain my own bid privately to my opponents with my partner unaware of both my alert and my explanation?
Disclaimer: The above post may be a half-baked sarcastic rant intended to stimulate discussion and it does not necessarily coincide with my own views on this topic.
I bidding the suit below the suit I'm actually showing not to be described as a "transfer" for the benefit of people unfamiliar with the concept of a transfer

If you're playing online or with screens, excessive alerting is generally not a problem. I was speaking more generally in my message.
