unable to send messages chatbar frozen

when somebody posts an URL on bbo and i click on it, not only does it not open, but afterwards i can no longer send any messages to anyone.
i have to exit bbo and log back in to recouperate the message abilities.
anybody else have the same problem?
anything i can do?
