For Csaba's benefit that would be "onspeelbare klaveren". Onbespeelbare klaveren would sooner mean the opposite, that it is impossible to play against this system.

:) I did wonder what the extra syllable was for, but I didn't want to argue with Google Translate. Google was right, of course: the English word "playable" can be used in either sense.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

You need to work on your copy-paste skills then, because surely google translate didn't give a double O.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

BTW we gave up on this system. Echt onspeelbar.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

For those interested, a convention card for Baltic Club, as played by Smirnov-Piekarek, is available here but unfortunately without much detail. The key seems to be that 1 - 1; 2 is natural and non-forcing (probably ~11-17) and they are essentially gambling that they can handle the 18+ club-based hands well enough to compensate for the plusses from the 2 opener. Perhaps Gerben or Free know more about this system...

It does have a double A.

Yes it does unless it's not the last syllable. This rule is confusing me but I will get used to it. Dutch orthography is less convoluted than this system anyway.

Give me your email address and I will give you Jansma - Verhees system notes from when they played together.

Cheers, very useful. Don't speak dutch but everything is nicely layed out so you can pretty much work it out.

Thanks, for me the last language I was trying to decipher was Polish (using my little knowledge of Russian) but Dutch (based on my barely less little knowledge of German) looks so easier :-)

I also mentioned the pair in the German open team who play a Polish club variant (Baltic Club),in which the 2 opener is reserved for a weak 2-suiter (+another), so they must also handle the hands which would open 2 in other PC variants within the 1 opener. I guess, they do so similar as bluecalm described...

Note that in Baltic Club, 1 can be up to 21 points with a 2-suiter, and 1M up to 18 HCP, so their 1 is just a bit less overloaded than in the original post here.
