hello
 I am thinking of joining up with ICQ.
Is this a known spyware or anything bad ?
I would be grateful for any advice .
It is not well known in Australia.
TIA

It is not well known in Australia? Well I guess that depends on whom you know. ICQ is similar to MSN messenger, it is fine and it is a quick and easy way to talk to friends/acquaintances on line.

All on line chat programs are frowned upon in on line bridge as they can be used for cheating. My take on the matter is this - I have used ICQ when playing with a partner when we are practicing or learning the system so as not to bore the opponents stupid, however you have to be very ethical about it though in that you ONLY discuss hands after they have been completed. I would not use it in a tournament at all.

Anyway, it is definitely not spyware.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ron
You have answered my question perfectly.
I can now make my decision knowing that I am no t downloading known spyware.
I see your point about it being open for abuse and cheating.
I guess if someone really is a cheat they will find a way.
thanks for your reply

I've been using ICQ for almost 10 years and have not had troubles with it. I'm still using my ancient account <_<
