Should North now bid 2 or 2? or something else. 1NT is forcing 1 round.

Thank you

I think that this is a good hand, but just a bit shy of a reverse in my book (and many people would play 2 as a reverse here), so 2 is the better bid. If south bids 2 then north should feel free to make one more bid.

I absolutely agree with all but one little bit of this. Everyone plays 2 as a reverse here, whether they claim to do so or not, because 2 is a reverse by definition. If you mean that some play it as showing extra values (and some do not) well, I won't argue with that. B-)

Very marginal reversing values for North and the club void is a red flag.

Our only shot at a decent trump fit is in and I would bid 2 of them. Partners actual shape is hardly a surprise and I would give it up in 2 with this suit "quality".

In my partnership pard doesn't have 3 card hearts unless they have less than an 8 count including distribution and surely some of that is wasted in clubs.

I'm bidding 2. If partner pulls 2 to 2, then it's because (s)he has 2 Hearts and 1-3 Diamonds, so I pass that (partner will have wasted values in Clubs a majority of the time).

2d

5 of a minor is a lonnnng way off if p cannot scrape up a 3d bid i would
give up on game. P bidding 2h does not excite me either and i would pass
that. looking for game here opposite any min by responder is hoping for
some kind of miracle and trust me if p has such a miracle they will find a
raise.

2D and pass 2H. Responder will bid 2H with 2-4 in the reds if 1NT was truly forcing, but so what? We play in 2H.

Reminds me when my partner gets asked for help how to bid a certain hand at our club; often it is because the asker had mishandled a reverse - either passing partner's reverse or making one with a weak hand and getting too high. When he tries to explain to them about why reverses show extra values, they often say quickly, "oh, but we don't play reverses!!!".

2. I'm not making a light reverse into 2 when I have this poor of an initial suit, and when responder is practically guaranteed not to have a fit for my 2nd suit. Over a 2H preference, I probably put 2 on the table, even though it could work out badly on this hand if responder doesn't choose to pass, the decision for which will be influenced by whether he thinks 2 shows a 4 card biddable suit.

By the way, if you want honest answers, then don't post both hands, you bias your results.

2 - this isn't close to a reverse - look at how bad that heart suit is.

I expect ..2....2. From there I don't know where the bidding ends but I do know I'm sorely tempted to pass.

2D but reverse is close imo.
Then:

1H - 1N
2D - 2H
2S - pass

1H - 1N
2S - 3S
4S

2D. The reverse into 2S is not close.

Nah, everyone plays 2 as showing extras (assuming 1NT doesn't show spades). Maybe some play 2 as artificial, though.

I like blucalm's first auction but we might also just end up in 2.
