I log in to forums and my hands from the newsbox in the bbo lobby, but after a few minutes I get an error message that says, insufficient memory, and I get booted from bbo. Does anyone else have this problem or could someone please tell me what is wrong? I had no problems with the older version. I thought the newsbox looked nicer and was easier to use...it didn't boot me :D

We have had reports of problems with the new newsbox (actually, with the embedded browser) on Windows 98 machines that use IE 5.5

In every instance the problems have been cleared up by moving to the latest IE, from www.microsoft.com/ie

The news window is now a tiny browser window, which makes it much more flexible (we can more easily embed pictures, etc). More than that, I expect our foreign-language users to soon see news pages in their own language. We've had the ability to show news in multiple languages (based on users language setting) for many months, but the old news format was difficult to learn/use.

Lastly, I expect the browser windows to start showing up in more and more places inside bbo as we find uses for them.

R, if the bug is that:

You use the links in the news window to navigate thru myhands/forums and this causes crashes (out of memory errors)

try this:

instead of clicking on Myhands , right click it and open the link in a new window.
This will launch a new browser window. Perhaps this will step around the problem.

Has anyone else seen anything like this ?

HI

My Problem is with the AutoUpdate from BBO.

My 3.9.2 fuctions great! But every since he Update to 3.9.3 was offered my computer tries to load it (get the Message, the Update Action window) but the only not-Greyed button is the CANCEL. I can browse and pick a new directory ok - but the UPDTE button is is still inactive.

After I cancel the update I can start and get into BBO with out the update stuff poping up, but the next time I get on I have to cancel it again.

Thanks,
_*_Dave

The Update button is activated when you navigate to a bbo folder (containing the bbo program).

Perhaps simplest to install full version from www.bridgebase.com/online

Since downloading version 9.3.3 I have problems when logging into BBO and it takes a veryyyyyy long time. It commences with loading players (in sequences of 200), then table list and when these are eventually completed the profiles for the players have only the information "User profile for ..name.." (the latter eventually displays full information). Are these issues common with others?

Rona,

if you don't mind an experiment: Does the news-window crash only when you try to open a hand viewer (by clicking on a hand)? Can you generally open hands from myhands while BBO is running? If so, how many such hands can you open at the same time?

Patrobo,

It is completely normal (in 393) for the user to see a few status messages . It is highly unlikely that 393 would be slower to connect that 390. The only exception to this is that you might have made changes to your bbover.ini file and these changes might have been overwritten by the new version

393 needs less than half the initial data of the older versions to get started (the remainder is still downloaded, afterwards).

If you are still convinced 392 was faster for you, email uday @ bridgebase.com -- i'll find you an older version and we'll time it.

Uday,

I can open my hands from myhands with bbo running and see as many as i like without a crash. I can also open a new window from the link in the lobby and see as many as I like with no problem. It only crashes when I click on the link and view myhands from there. I can only see about four and then I crash.Actually I have to check and see when the crash actually happens..I think it's usually while viewing the hand.
