Gut reaction, at Red, after (3) Pass (4) ??, with
  • Axx AKxx Kx Axxx: Double = 10, Pass = 7.
  • AKxx KJxx xx Qxx: Double = 10, Pass = 6.
  • AKxx KJxx Kx Jxx: Double = 10, Pass = 8
  • AKxx KJxx Kx xxx: Pass = 10, Double = 9.
  • AKxx KJxx xx Jxx: Double = 10, Pass = 8
  • AKxx KJxx x Jxxx: Double = 10, Pass = 6
  • AKxx KJxx Qx xxx: Pass = 10, Double = 8
  • AKxx KJxx xx xxx: Pass = 10, Double = 7
Assuming that opponents have a ten card fit (or thereabouts), our game prospects are good. At this level, partner will pass your double with flattish hands.

what's the call?? The reason for your call and the expectation for your partner's hand to support your decision.

IMP or MP make any differences?

I dont have any epectations for my partner's hand. In this type of situation I ask myself 3 questions:

- Is it more costly to pass or DBL? - I think pass.
- What would most people do in my situation? - I think DBL.
