If you don't open this perfume with 1, you might as well pass.

I'd just open 4H, I'm scared of opening 8 counts :P

I considered 3H as I have THE BOSS SUIT(s) so preempting is less important, but my hand just has too much playing potential for that. I presume this dillema is why some people prefer 1H.

This was the full hand:

What should East bid after North opens 4?
What is (4H)-4NT: to play, two suits, minors?

Demonstrates why JLOGIC's 4H opening is the winning action.
(JLOGIC & Pavlicek's stats are persuading me into opening 4M more often)

I have a question for GCC junkies - Isn't there some or other regulation which stipulates the minimum amount of HCP needed in order to open 1-of-a-suit? If yes, then what is the minimum?

8, although as I learned recently from this forum if it is a precision diamond it's gotta be 10 (but upgrading with a great 9 is legal!). Also a 1C could be short must be 10+ if it includes say 4342, but if it is only short if its 4432 8+ is ok!
