3 - 4
4N

3H = QP Ask
4 = 8 QP
4N = to play

I suspect that RR needs at least 9 QPs to warrant a slam exploration

3Nt---pass

--------------------
CClub

1C-1S (no M or GF D{=C_
1Nt-2C (low short)
2D-2H (3154)
2S-3H (Dkc---2+Q no KC)
3NT--pass

finding about JT of D or T9 of clubs isnt easy.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

...3D

Given the misfit, we aren't going anywhere unless responder can super accept.

...3N...4C (Attempted sign off; 8 QPs)

Even with this information, it's really difficult to get very excited, because we the hand almost certainly has 2 Aces (something magical like AXX K KQJTx Qxx is possible, but it seems like a real stretch).

Ergo:

...4N (sorry, not interested)

3-4 QP ask; 8
4-5 2 diamonds, 1 club, 1-2 spades (hand is known)
5N-P

All this black suit duplication in our short suits looks pretty bad for slam. We'd need to bring in diamonds for 1 loser, and that seems quite ambitious. Even in 5N I'm not that happy, but at least I'll be playing in my methods (with NT first bid at the 5 level, it turns out).

Edit: interesting you guys are all so pessimistic with 20 QPs combined. That's just off an AQ or KK.

... 3 (shape)
3 - 4 (8 QP)
4 - 4 (two top diamonds)

Again, this could be xxx K AKxxx Qxxx which is a decent slam, or Axx x AQxxx Qxxx which offers good play for club slam on a dummy reversal.

4 - 5 (one top club, one top spade, no top heart)

At this point the whole hand is known.

6 - Pass

On a club lead (best) I will win in the short hand and finesse diamonds. If this wins I can cross ruff to twelve tricks. Note slam is even better if the diamond hand includes the jack. Anyway, if not willing to play this slam I could've signed off in 4NT a long time ago. :)

One could try to play 6 on a dummy reversal or hope for a favorable layout, but for that I'd need at least 9 QP's. So I choose my end signal, which partner will only zoom with 9+ QP's:

...-3 (shape)
3-3NT (puppet ; 6-8 QP's)
pass
