Now this one we have all seen before. Can't GIB have some criteria for high level doubles other than high card point count?

Improved, so GIB won't use such last chance doubles once there is huge fit existing.

So if it leans on double, will be in clear missing fit and points.

What strikes me as a bit odd is that only needs to run a few sims, to tell it that it should be bidding 5H over 4S (or at the very least not doubling 4S). How can you "improve" on running the sims?
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

I think the rules database is such that sims are only run on some actions, not all, so perhaps it wasn't simulating the effect of 5H before and just doing a stupid double based on point count action.

When GIB searches for calls and it finds an appropriate call where all constraints are ok, it doesn't need to simulate ( still based on call properties, could sim by force if there is some ambiguity ).

However, based also on priorities there are some safe-belts which should protect GIB to throw a pass or select emergency call once there is a risk to make the opposite.

So here what GIB found was inappropriate double based on just values ignoring possible fit.

In old version West GIB gave automatically double ( simming doesn't help as the double rule was accurate ).

Now in next, GIB will evaluate this lower level double additionally, and respectively having such hand like here will not use it. Instead will now consider pass / 5.

Old version 5 wasn't found at all, now 5 is found in almost all cases for advanced-GIB.
