IMP pairs. Pick up opponents.

Lead 9 T,J,Q

The 9 lead is super weird. Did West actually pass over 2H with a stiff H and a bunch of spades and then lead his singleton trump?

Given that the only risk of ducking a heart is the parlay that the 9 is a middle trump from a doubleton/tripleton heart holding AND the opponent with 3H has a void AND the other manages to give them a ruff, then ducking a heart still probably the right play.

I have the same issues about the auction/lead as Wesley, this doesn't seem real.

Yes, W passed. Some people always have excuses to not bid. Which costed them -420, which is cold on any lead by the way, while 4 is also cold.

I was wondering which line was better among 3. Not trying to be annoyed by LHO and his "zzzzzzzzzzzzzz" comments at the same time, lol.

-Try going to dummy and take finesse
-Cash A and claim if 3-2 2-3
-Duck a just incase E has 4 trumps.

Among them safest seemed to me to duck a at T2. I have seen people who did not bid enough with their 10 card fits, but I decided having a side void next to their 10 card fit is not my concern, since 4 would be both biddable and makeable. As you guys said, we can actually give them hands that none of us would pass, but can find reasonable for a weak player to pass at these colors. Which makes only the first line above very dangerous. And it was.

LHO held

You see what happens if you try to go dummy and take finesse.Posted Image

Is LHO's hand correct ? I don't see that anything happens if you cross to dummy as RHO has one club and only two trumps which you extract when you play the second round to finesse.

I'd also blame E rather than W, with AKxxxxx, Jx, KQ10, x I think I'd have bid 3 over 3 if the vul put me off bidding 4 first time.

Yes, correct.

If you try to go to dummy with A you give 2+1+1.
If you try to go dummy with , then W may have K9 , which is not likely but this is why i posted this. It was funny all along. This guy would not surprise me to have led from K9!
I agree that conservatism of E makes JEC an aggressive player.Posted Image
