4♣ was a cue bid of the ace. Should I have bid 7nt over 7♠? Clearly I should have bid 4nt Blackwood and then I wouldn't have had this problem.

GIB has tons of issues on takeout double auction continuations. Problem here is apparently it thinks 3d shows 4+ spades and sets trumps which shouldn't be the case. It really should bid 3H over the cue bid to give you the chance of getting to 7H, instead of thinking spades is set.
(it would be nice if you link to the original handviewer link using
so we could see the descriptions of the bids)
Until GIB gets fixed on these sort of auctions, hard to bid sensibly.

This is actually a hand where it would help you that GIB deals badly with offshape takeout doubles. I think you could make a bid like 4C over 2S, knowing GIB will still be aware you have three spades. With a human that bid would arguably lose the spade suit too often.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

sort of the opposite of one of the hands you were talking about in you discussions for playing with the bots.
where you made a take out double with a big hand and diamonds and then couldn't bid 5♦ for a sac.
when you redid the bids you overcalled with big hand then you were able to sac.
