Today I played a game which went like this. The contract went down 5. East claims to be an expert while West is an "intermediate" with 4700+ login. I wonder whether the 3C opening is any convention that I don't know, followed by miscommunication?

I can only assume a misclick from East here, there is no other sensible explanation! there is certainly no convention I've ever come across that makes this hand a 3C opening lol
"definitely that's what I like to play when I'm playing standard - I want to be able to bid diamonds because bidding good suits is important in bridge" - Meckstroth's opinion on weak 2 diamond

That's what I thought initially, eagles, too, until I looked at the hand records. East is one of those idiots who joins various tables and spoils games..

Hi,

the only question is, if North has enough to pass and convert, as he did,
he only has the 5th 9.
I am sure, this would not be sufficient for me, given that I also have a 4 carder.

With kind regards

I have encountered players like that. If that player is my partner, I then pass-REGARDLESS of my hand. He soon gets the message and leaves.

I handle idiots like that differently in MBC. They get booted if I am host and made an enemy with a note explaining what they do. If I am not host, I ask host to boot and leave if they don't.

Sounds to me like a waste of everyone's time. Neilkaz's approach is much better.

I suggest that if you come across players such as this particular east you report them to BBO Abuse.if this happens enough times action might be taken and they might realize it is not a joke. Having checked hand records I see that east routinely overcalls or preempts on singletons, giving away 1100 or more. That’s dozens of players scores affected each day. Whilst many won’t take much notice of that some will. It also puts people off playing on BBO.

Incidentally, why do people act in this way? It’s totally beyond me.

I see these abusers as trolls out to disrupt games and make the other people (mostly their partner) at the table angry.

There are also people who vandalize public toilets just for the sake of vandalizing something. Apparently it gives some psychological reward.

Firstly take all claims of level on BBO with a grain of salt. Also number of logons on BBO mean absolutely nothing about people's experience, expertise, or ability.

There are very good experienced players calling themselves novices. Very ordinary players calling themselves advanced or expert. People calling themselves world class simply because they played in some irreleveant little competition for their country. And finally, number of logons on BBO bears no relationship to people's experience of bridge out in the real world :)

Rant over :)

Yours a very experienced but ordinary intermediate
