I have never gotten a bad result by leading 4th best from AKQJ(x)(x)(x)

Jack denies is truly horrific. While much of the time, it is irrelevant, every now and then declarer has Qxx in dummy and Ax(x) in hand. He may have tempo issues, such that, with standard leads, he’d try the Queen. He ain’t doing that when the Jack is led. Plus on two occasions that I recall (back when this lead convention was inexplicably popular, I dropped the stiff king. Also. Say dummy is Axx and we have in hand Qxxx....indeed that is one of the stiff king scenarios.

Rusinow: I’ve played this a lot because I have had two very good partners who like it. I don’t think it gains much over standard.
