Where do you end up (be honest)?

(I probably would have overcalled as West, but opps were silent).

I would bid 2 GF and expect to end up in 3NT.
What an interesting hand.

A possibly uninspired 4NT:
1S - 2D (FG)
2NT - 3H (6-5)
3NT - 4NT
Pass

2NT is a catch-all. The hand isn't good enough for 3C and 2S promises 6.

+++++++++++++++++++
4 or 6 depending on North's enthusiasm.
Against an optimistic East, 4XX+1 :)

1 - 2
2 - 3
3NT

I don't play 2 here as promising six.

This is the classic high combined strength misfit, which I suspect will see some blasting to 6NT.

I would repeat the exact bidding sequence as posted by nige1

1 - 2
2 - 3
3N - 4
pass (South is delighted to pass with the misfit)

Probably 4 in Acol (repeating the sequence from Nigel and shyams) but almost certainly 3NT playing Z Club:-

1 = 10-17 unbal, 5+ spades
... - 1NT = INV+ relay
2 = min <4 hearts
... - 2 = GF relay
2 = 4+ clubs
... - 2 = relay
2NT = 5+ clubs
... - 3 = relay
3 = 5215
... - 3NT

6NT is never really in the picture here with a misfit as Opener is essentially limited to 13.

If you open 1 Club, as I sometimes do with 5-5 in the black suits, then uninterrupted probably:

1Posted Image - 1Posted Image
1Posted Image - 2Posted Image (FSF)
2Posted Image - 3Posted Image (no it's a real suit)
3NT- 4Posted Image (?)

But West might come in with 1S or some kind of two-suited overcall, in which case goodness knows where you finish up...

I was thinking like Nige1. Anyone else honest enough to admit they might be playing in two diamond doubled by West?!

Could be worse, if south opens 1 and W bids a "spades and diamonds" 2, they're playing 2x.

I guess I am a conservative bidder; a 2 overcall did not really feature on my list given the Vul status.

2Dxx by south:

P-1S-P-2C (or hearts inv or gf any)
P-2D (clubs or balanced)-X-XX

Okay maybe west passes 2D (hard to believe though) and we relay ourselves to 4h.

1-2
2-3
3NT-4
4-pass

After 3 South could give a heart preference of aim for 3NT. Both make sense but I persoanlly think I would bid 3NT

North knows not to try for slam with so many useless strength in the blacks in front.
