Hi
When bidding a hand and the opponents bd something that could be an artificial bid I click the bid in order for them to get a pop up box so they can explain what it is to me. Mostly this works but quite often it immediately comes up with “no explanation available”. This is no help to me and so I exit the hand. It is very annoying. Why does this happen?

This happens if the player closes the explanation box without filling in the explanation field. Ideally they should only do this if they actually have no agreement with partner, although writing "no agreement" is a better way to make this clear.

If you don't believe them, you should call the director.

It usually means "it's obvious and natural, otherwise I would have alerted it." The "of course" is implied, hopefully.

Which is wrong - the response should be "natural" or "diamonds, GF" or whatever it actually is. But people are lazy.

There are a lot of "One True Bidding System" people, because it's all they've learned, or all they've seen in their clubs, or ... and they literally have no idea what else it could be besides "normal". Cut them a little slack, or ask the specific question you want in private chat; if there is a director, call.

If it's a pickup game, and you know it's a pickup game, then you already have your answer.
