Played in my first F2F in years at the local club.

They kindly fixed me up with a very nice lady with 500 points. She inquired if I played transfers, stayman and weak 2s.
I confirmed I knew those. Off we went.

Every one was so nice and kind. We ended with a dead average 50%, played 24bds.
We had 6 tops one bottom. The bottom was my fault, last board of the day, competitive auction options were pass 3nt or double. I knew I had the best hand so pass was out. I knew I should double but was afraid chaos would happen instead I bid 3nt down 3.=my error.

Pitched a few over tricks on defense or on what was I thinking leads..

Bid 2 slams the field missed and BBO would call leaping to slams, no science.
Was afraid end up in part score..

At the end my back was killing me from sitting in bridge chairs, my head pounding
Felt drained.

The club emails a zillion things out, very nice. All the deals ,par results, expert commentary on a couple of hands.

Noticed GNT club qualifying on the 15th
Mentioned if any team needed a fourth or fill in was interested

Now today they put together an entire team
Including that nice lady..

Will bring Advil, lots, pray to the bridge gods to keep quiet , be kind and smile..

Good luck in the GNTs!

Well done, Mike. Sounds like you enjoyed it. I'm in exactly the same boat and plan to go back to my old club maybe in March. My plan is also to play with anyone they match me up with, try to play their card, and try to focus most of my efforts on card play. I need to decide whether I want to start playing again or not. If not, I should stop wasting so much time on these discussion boards and find a new hobby. :)

I doubt that will happen, you are too entrenched.
