TBH I prefer 3D to be competitive otherwise with minimal hands we are selling out too easily (we could find a 6-2 or 6-3 fit when partner would not balance, making or going down little, or pushing them to 3S). So my answer will probably be less relèvent.

Anyway here we are, partner made some noise (how weak can they be, does pass over 3S say sth, was 3D forcing, would X tend to promise 3H support and 3D deny them) and now we can infer even less wasted S values. And even if 3D was non min, I guess we do have more, at least in tiers of honor quality and shape with a 7th D.

Would have loved to prove for 3NT the round earlier, but wa can rule that out now.

Guessing partner is rather minimal, 4D is probably enough. My S singleton has virtually been advertised to partner, and if not Xing conveyed that I have 2H cards at most, the 1273 looks likely (might have introduced C at some stage with 64), now I hope partner will appreciate K in the rounded suits and complements in D to bid 5 when necessary.

Fwiw, we would start with 2NT (good/bad) with a hand just wanting to compete, so 3D is nonminimum. No, 3D is not forcing, certainly encouraging.

How weak can partners negative double be?
Undiscussed...clearly on this practice deal, even the pros would disagree..smile.
