Scoring: IMP

Bidding 1:

1NT----2C*----2H*----dbl
Redbl--2S-----3D-----pass
3H----pass----4C----pass
4D----pass----5D//

Bidding 2:

1NT----2C*----pass---2H
pass---2S------2NT---3S
pass---pass----4C----pass
4D//

Comparing 2 proceedings, what do you think about Bidding 1?

I feel incapable, deeply, to make such bidding.

Could experts analysis what's the logic behind bidding 1 and why bidding 2 failed?

Thanks and regards,

Jack

You don't say what the 2C overcall at table 1 meant.

I assume from the rest of the auction that 2C = hearts and another, anchor to longer major (common in England, although many would have just overcalled 2S), which makes a great deal of the rest of the auction more sensible.

I'm not sure one table is much more successful than the other. 5D looks to be an OK-ish game, but I wouldn't be that upset at either bidding it or not bidding it.

a borderline game. You cannot say bidding 1 is a success and bidding 2 a failure.

You need clubs 3-2 or a stiff T (south chance of having a stiff clubs are good)
A non-spades lead (unlikely)
King of diamond onside

You need 2/3 to make game.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
