At MP it rarely pays off to play in a minor. Minor preempts OTOH tend to work well for the bidders most of the time.

And while I pass here like the majority, I do it only because of the vulnerabilities. LHO could well have a side entry for his clubs. At equal vulns I double, and at reverse, I bid 3NT. Knowing my style of preempting, at favorable I could bid 3 with 10xxxxxx or Kxxxxx and nothing aside.

Edit: At IMP I pass at all vulns, but I could still bid 3NT at unfavorable.

Is partner's direct action soo high that he needs this bal min to protect his 'near OC'? Likely SA,HAQ for him, does he have a 5-loser hand?
Does he have the 13- count to make 3NT?
NO, NO. NO.

Pass is obvious at any form of scoring.
If someone pointed a gun at me and forced me to make a bid, I'd put 3NT on the table, not else.
Kind regards,
Harald

The votes for 3NT are mind boggling. If that is a good contract partner will be bidding more. How can he be expected to play us for this little. This is an easy pass, occasionally you have game, 10x more often you avoid going for a penalty when you don't.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Agreements again, my direct seat actions are stronger than most, so I reopen with less.

This looks like one of the finest passes ever dealt to anyone and note that I compete rather aggressively vs preempts, but clearly pass this.

Just my opinion .. neilkaz ..

I'd take the bullet.

And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

To paraphrase Frances in an earlier thread:

"Baah"

Both as a member of the herd and as an individual sheep, I'm passing this no matter what form of scoring.

...and I agree with Ken, I'd take the bullet and be made mutton before bidding here.

I wondered about this one.

Thank you all for your interesting comments and posts.
This hand caused a bit of "heat" at the late night table.
Partner thought double was clear in this seat at this scoring, I thought pass was.

The companion hand, the one with very long diamonds, resulted in further discussion. Partner thought I could not pass over 3 clubs and then bid 5D.

4D was the winning bid btw.

Well, just shows that we who bid 5 expected a better hand than this for the double - and that we would pass with the actual doublers hand. Nice fit IMO.
Kind regards,
Harald
