Can anyone find a picture of J.W. Cobb? He's supposed to be some famous mathematician who helped Economics. Apparently there's some sort of big prize up for grabs for anyone who finds one. Not for me, it's for a girl I know. Maybe he's not an actual person. Supposedly he's very well known, but wikipedia doesn't really have him. Maybe she gave me the wrong name... ugh. I'd like to help her...

Yes that's surely him, Charles Cobb then.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Certainly the only Cobb I ever heard of in Economics is the one cited above. The Cobb-Douglas production function is commonly used as a simplified model of production. There have certainly been many mathematicians that have helped expand the field of economics both directly (e.g. John Nash) and indirectly (e.g. Kakutani with his fixed point theorem). However, I suspect that either you got the name wrong or, more likely, this is a ruse.
