European evenings = North American daytime.
Who would be up for it?
Also, what's a reasonable time allotment? 6mins per board?

8 boards in one hour + 30 minutes for administration, setup of new rounds, smoke break, so in 6 hours one can play 4 matches and this on two days => 8 matches total

I would be interested to play.
In general, the time period in days should not be too long, but also the ammount you spend
on a specific day.
I guess 3-4 hours on a day, which corresponds to a standard evening at a club, the whole
thing should be over in two days, and two consecutive days are more likely easier to manage
than two days with a week between.
With kind regards

please do take part in the poll if you are interested in playing - I won't actually bother unless some days get a reasonable number of votes.

After a bit of thought, it seems a 16 (or 20) board match each day (or two days, allowing for scheduling problems) would be best... Not too much, but still enough to be a legitimate match.
Most of my regular partners don't post on BBF, but I could certainly arrange a team (and I put us over the post limit for the team )

With your post count, I'm sure that won't be a problem.

Well I could since I was planning on European evenings, but I figured many people would still be working then. Maybe I was wrong.
I think that, as a stout atheist, I am within my rights to call this "Christmas Swiss Teams".

As I wrote, my idea would be to require that 3 players have at least 25 posts each. That means either your partner would need to be an occasional forum poster (25 posts is not really a high barrier), or both of your teammates. Or you could have a 6-handed team with 3 forum users and their partners (but I do expect that all members of a team play some boards, no signing up people just to fulfil the requirements and sit on the bench).

And they have a month to post 25 times... not too much to ask, is it?

No kidding.
It seems a 2-day tournament the weekend before Xmas is currently leading the polls (I'm going to keep them running for a while, though). What would people think of (Central Europe/US East Coast/US West Coast)...
Sat 19:00/13:00/10:00 Round 1
Sat 20:15/14:15/11:15 Round 2
Sat 21:30/15:30/12:30 Round 3
Sat 22:45/16:45/13:45 Round 4
Sun 19:00/13:00/10:00 Round 5
Sun 20:15/14:15/11:15 Semifinals
Sun 21:30/15:30/12:30 Finals (Brackets 2-x)
Sun 22:00/16:00/13:00 Finals (Bracket 1)
I was just thinking one could play 8-board matches, but expand to 12 boards for the top bracket in the Semifinals and Finals. That would allow people in the lower brackets to watch a good bit of the finals.
Does that sound reasonable?
