IMPS

2NT would be lebenshol

What do you bid?
What would you bid if you were 30 up going into the last 8 board set and had just had two flat boards?

2, regardless of the score.

I have no idea whether 2 was opened in the other room, so there's no scope for trying to duplicate the action in the other room, even if I wanted to.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

So it's only we matchpoint addicts who are passing?

I admit it's not a 100% clearcut action especially if partner is light.

I'd pass if I were 30 down.

Tough hand.

Pass, 2 and 3NT are all options.

Much will depend on opponents style, and how light partner can be. And how freely partner doubles with only 3 spades.

Downgrading from what - i.e. what would you bid if you weren't downgrading?
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

from the question i'm guessing someone thought his heart holding was worth more than 1 trick and passed, helping to piss away a 30 imp lead.

Passing may hit the jackpot, but I'm settling with 2, as pard might be doubling on a very marginal hand, say 11 hcp with some 5440.

I dont try to tell that i know the answer to this one, all i know that i hate the Lebensohl convention right now  .
But that 2 is a WTP solution, how? U bidding 3 card suit, i would understand it if there really is no choice. Pass is one of them, is it a good one i dont know, but it is an alternative. After 2 u may very well be playing 3-3 trump and even in Moysian fit u will be taking second ruff in long trump and be victim of an over ruff.
Ok if prd is bidding distributional 11- count, defending 2dbl aint such a great idea either.
What am i going to do.... Pass

Passing is a great start to give away your 30 imps lead imo. Not only they can make, but also partner may have a big hand and started dbl with where we actually have a good minor fit. Oooops 2 dbled made or down 1 or 2, while we are cold for slam or at least game.

I bid 2, and yes we may play 3-3 , but they dunno that, it aint picnic walk to dbl 2. And whatever happens to 2, i am expecting it will be a push. Whether pass works or not, i don't think it will be a push board.

One reason it's unlikely to be a flat board is that 30-imp-down weak twos often look completely different to 30-imp-up weak twos.

2NT Lebensohl, then sign off in 3NT. 30+ and red, my partner doesn't double lightly.
