Canceling other people's votes is just as ridiculous as the whole voting system. As I said in the other thread, we don't need it. Btw, if you want to do a really good job, then why don't you cancel the random upvotes as well?

I just wonder: should the moderators take our opinions into account or not? If so, a poll about the voting system may be in order. At the moment we can discuss this all we want, but as long as the moderators prefer a voting system we can't do anything against random voters, popularity contests, votes in the watercooler, and apparently the anti-downvote police...

There was a very simple question posed by someone. Is pass forcing here? The reply to the question was "you are joking right?". I thought that was not a helpful post and it was slightly rude so I downvoted it. Unfortunately the downvote police arrested me.

Perhaps you could just leave the answering poster to say 'no not joking, it's a reasonable new concept for you to consider'. If that's what he thinks.

If I wanted to add something to the conversation, I would have replied. I wanted to express my like/dislike of a certain reply, so I downvoted. Downvoting means "I don't like this reply", upvoting means "I like this reply". Very simple. At least my upvotes/downvotes. For ArtK78 upvoting often means "I don't understand why this post got downvoted".

The downvote police handcuff and gag u. They throw u into their van. They drive around with the GPS turned off, discussing water-boarding, tazers, Byzantine Blackwood, and o/e discards with doubletons.

It is traumatizing.

p.s. I got away when they uncuffed me cuz they needed a fourth. While my pard was coping with a doubled slam, West forgot who I was and sent me out for coffee and donuts. Scored $20!

There's a fair chance that you would never get to find out about the edit, even if a retraction ov vote were possible. Agree with the sentiment, however.
