kgr asks "MPs. Who to blame most?"
IMO
- Bad luck 90%. Honours mesh well.
No duplication
- North 5% (Two suits. Useful ♦T).
- South 5% (chunky ♦ suit and three ♥).

...and can South not bid 5NT?
We do this as a matter of routine, I wasn't sure how many other pairs did.
Basically if the 1N rebid is 12-14 I think I'd just bid 6N, if 11-14 I'd bid 4N and expect S to bid 5N over which I'd bid 6.
Our auction is just 1N(12-14)-2♣-2♦-6N, you effectively find out about the majors before the 1N rather than after.

If North has the machinery, he might explore for a 4-4 club fit as well as a 4-4 heart fit (I would) but this is pairs so no-trump is tempting.

North. I think you want to be in 6nt the vast majority of the time, and it would be nice not to let the opponents know anything about partner's range.

4N is a blunt sword.
I think I would prefer:
1♦ - 1♥
1N - 2♦
2♥ - 3♣
3♠....
It seems North has a better idea that the hand is working, but in the end someone will probably have to make a successful guess for 6.

North, keep it simple.

north, duh.
5NT as re-invite is silly.

... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
