IMO, this is not appropriate. There is legitimate debate about whether the hand is an opening bid, and the answers depend on style and system for those who think before answering. It might be an easy choice in your style, but it is just as easy an opposite choice in someone else's.

pls quote my posts in full not partial.

in fact i agree if you quote/comprehend in full.

:P I, personally, would open the hand, but it is right on the cusp. Opps seem to have more problems when our side gets in the first bid. I have an easy rebid of 1NT at MP's or 2C at IMP's. I just can't visualize how we can comfortably get back into the auction if I pass. This is certainly not my favorite hand to open, and it could easily go wrong. Bridge is a game of percentages.

I wouldn't consider passing.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Probably not "hate".

Their methods were o.k. for them, back then; and I believe some tools they used have been refined and are still being employed today.

Their standards for an opening bid, and their wait-around approach to entering the opponents' auction would not be successful against strong modern pairs, however.

I suspect the "Roth Stone" approach Mike777 uses is not pure, but rather more in-tune with modern conditions.

My guess is many agree with your point about wait-around and bid approach, my partners would strongly, but......still I wonder.....

I would open the hand and rebid 3C over 2S. It seems like the smallest lie and keeps the bidding low.

This is problematic; I don't know if partner is raising diamonds or if it's a cuebid for spades.
I'm going to guess it's a diamond raise since we've already denied 4 spades. I'll try 4H (control and a fitting honor) and hope for the best.
