i seem to have forgotten how to do this, but wasn't there some way to get a popup when someone sends a pm?

Do you mean Ctrl + R to get a chat window with their name already filled in?

You only get a popup if its an offline message. This means you are offline when message is sent.

To send an offline message, open the chat box by clicking "chat", and type in BBO ID of the receiver in the little box. You can send this type of message even when the receiver is in BBO. However, he/she won't get the message till the next time they log in.

my fault guys, i wasn't clear... i meant here on the forums, not on bbo... seems like messages used to pop up, or at least something telling you there was one... thanks

Board Settings (bottom left)

"Do you wish to recieve pop-up...[etc]" <-- change to yes.

if it -is- changed to yes, and you're not getting them: are you running a pop-up blocker?
