I tried to run it with option Y and option N, after 2-3 mins and lots of data showing on screen, my computer crashed and when it rebooted this is what I got.

Your computer recovered from a serious error.

this is what was shown in the dialogue box :P

BCCode : c2 BCP1 : 00000007 BCP2 : 00000CD4 BCP3 : 02070008
BCP4 : 82609530 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1

I am happy to try again (I think) as it does not appear to have harmed my computer at all, just maybe I am doing something wrong.

I downloaded from the link and saved it to my desk top then double clicked and it ran from there

1st time I waited 15 seconds and it defaulted to Y option

2nd time I selected option N and it did exactly (well appeared to me to be exactly) the same things, rebooted itself

I am making an assumption my comp is ok, it cost me a bomb 2 years ago LOL, 512, 2.4 athlon processor, so I assume it would be ok, let me know if I should try it again, or you can use remote if you like and have a look yourself, if it helps

Thanks for trying Sceptic. I don't know what went wrong. I am sending a copy of your post to Microsoft - maybe they will know.

Assume you are using XP and that you see white screens? Otherwise there is not much point in trying again.

Thanks Luke.

When did you start seeing white screens (if it was a while ago just give me your best guess)?

What version of BBO are you using?

i've seen a milisecond white screen at log on for a month or so but didn't think anything about it because of the extremely short duration... it was only after reading in the forums about the problem that it actually made me aware of it... it has always been only at logon, but never after that... i just logged on again for the heck of it, and it was as it's always been... white *poof* normal... but earlier this evening it was white for a good 2, 3 seconds... i'm using v. 3.9.8 now

maybe that diagnostic file will show something... good luck tracking it down

I never noticed white screens until you changed the news box to an internet explorer type thing (if that makes any sense)

Hi Fred. I do not have XP on this PC, but on our other. Would you like me to try BBO on it and see what happens?

No white screens on this one.

Still no white screens for me with 3.9.8. I sorta wonder if some people know exactly what we say when we say white screens.

I have no real idea since I have never seen one. I use windows XP professional on all my computers... and all of them are more or less modern, upto date computers (my laptop is the oldest at just over 3 years, but it was "state of the art" when I bought it for PC-based ones). Both my computers have a lot (I think) of memory and video memory... 1GB on the desktop, 512 on the laptop.

Wish I had seen the white screen so I could participate in tracking down the problem. Maybe this info on what kind of computer it doesn't show up on will help.

As far as I can tell this is what you see (I am not certain of this because I have only ever seen the white screens myself in artifically created conditions, not in normal operation of BBO):

- The contents of your entire BBO window turns white.
- You can still see the BBO title bar and button bar.
- This condition remains from anywhere between a fraction of a second to several seconds. After that BBO usually returns to "normal".
- A few people who are not running BBO as a full screen application, have reported that their entire desktop (not just the contents of the BBO window) also turns white. We now have good reason to believe that what is really happening here is that the BBO window is somehow expanding to fill the entire desktop, turning white, and then return to its normal size.

If you were getting white screens, you would know about it. All accounts suggest that they are rather violent and disturbing - they are not the sort of things that you would not notice.

We know there are several things that can cause programs (not just BBO) to have the white screen effect. Running several graphically intense programs at the same time is one way to create this condition if you really want to see it yourself. We don't really care about this case - if people overload their own PCs by running too many heavy duty programs at once, that is their problem. However, we are pretty sure that BBO is capable of producing the white screen effect all on its own. That is something we have to deal with.

We are learning more every day and I am sure we will figure this out eventually. I will keep everyone informed of our progress.
