MOSCITO auction

3 - 3N
Pass

3H asks for slam points
3N shows 7

It seems prudent to stop low rather than looking for a cross ruff in 6
(Curious whether anyone else will decide differently)

For Straube

3-3N

3S is end signal and 3N shows 6-8. Maybe I'm conservative, but I usually want 21 QPs for these misfit hands.

1-1 spades usually GF
1-2 D>S GF
2-2 short H
2N-3 4153 shape
3-3N QP ask; 7
P

19 combined QPs isnt out of the question for slam, but with no fit and no extra fillers (just one jack and ten), pushing on seems ambitious.

... 3 (shape)
3 - 3NT (QP ask, 7 QP)

It's hard to visualize a slam here without a fit and missing either an ace or the heart king. I'd just pass 3NT.

Note that opposite 8 QP we could find AJxx K Axxxx xxx which has reasonable play; add a queen and it's really quite good.

With the hands not meshing very well, slam is a stretch unless we have a combined total of 20+ QPs. Since responder will zoom on @ 4+ with 3 QPs above base, we have a choice of asking for QPs or just signing off in 3N.

In this case, it seems marginally better to just bid 3N and declare the hand (if possible). Note that since the auction would have terminated at 3N after an ask since 3 is 5/6QPs.

I would just bid 3Nt. Need a stiff J of H and some extras for slam to be good. On a bad day i can see 4Nt going down.

--------------------------

1C-1H (strg,S w or GF)
1S-2C (at least 3S 15-20, D GF
2D-3C (no voids,4153)

Here also I would probably just bid 3nt but keyc is S is reasonnable since ill be playing the hand and expect a non-D lead.

For me, shape is shown with 3. Issue here is that we can't find out about K after a QP ask, and since we don't have a fit, I don't think QP ask is a good way to start. The alternative is to RKC in some suit, but then we might get issues trying to signoff. So I'll just signoff and see if partner can zoom.
