1♣ is 12-14/17-19 balanced or 12-21 natural.
2♣ shows diamonds, weak or GF.
3♣ shows a hand afraid of missing game opposite the weak (5-9) diamond hand, should probably deny a 4-card major.
3♠ shows GF with 5+ diamonds, 4+ spades.
4♣ is natural.

What should South's bids mean now?

4♥ = "I dunno what to do"
4♠ = 5 spades, I suppose.. on grounds that undiscussed bids are natural.
4NT = nat
5♣ = nat, ofc.

I agree with this. Partner is showing a great hand, minimum of 9 cards in the minors (probably 6-3 since no 4♦ bid), has no ♥ stop, and probably not 3 spades. Personally, I would also want to make 4♦ Ace-asking for ♦ and 4♥ Ace-asking for ♣, since I think partner's hand is well defined.

4♦ = ace ask in clubs with singleton heart
4♥ = ace ask in self-agreed diamonds
4♠ = 5 card NF but obviously highly suggestive
4NT = ace ask in clubs with void heart
5♣/♦ to play, minimum, not overloaded in AKs
5♥ = slam forcing asking for stop for NT
5♠ = pick a slam in ♦ or ♠ (shows 5 if 3♣ is expected to deny 4 spades)
5NT = heart stop, ace asking for NT.

I am assuming 3♠ showed the original GF and 3♦ woould be the original weak diamonds.

IMO 3C show a hand that is willing to play 3C vs a D preempt. With a hand with a game interest I would bid 2M not 3C.

Its like 1C-2D where 2D is wjs 3C is surely not a forward going move in my book.

While you are fully entitled to bid as you wish, the precept here is to take the OP as stated, and if you had adopted the OP style so far where the bids mean as clearly given, what would you do from here on? Personally, I prefer a 2♣ bid to be game invitational or better with both 4 card majors, but that is not particularly helpful to or germane to this thread.

I'm happy for the suggestion all the same. I doubt I will change the system because it just seems unlikely to me that the opps have the majority of the points, the majors and no bid, but it is a thing worth thinking about.

It's not clear from the OP, but I assume 3♣ denied primary diamond support and showed clubs, so 4♣ is showing even more clubs?
Responder's bids now without discussion would be
4♦ natural, more diamonds
4♥ agrees clubs
4♠ 5-6
4NT natural
5♣ weak raise in clubs
5♦ to play
5♥ heart void, agreeing clubs
5♠ GSF for clubs
5NT choice of minor suit slam
6m to play
6M can't think of a sensible meaning

Would 1♣2♣;3[dl]-3♦ have shown the strong hand? I think it would, by analogy with the standard sequence 1♣-1♦;3♣-3♦.

That means that we don't need a natural 4♦ now, so 4♦ agrees clubs.

Presumably 4♠ is non-forcing, so 5♠ is a slam-forcing 5-6.

Otherwise I agree with Frances.
