Now that it is my busy work season, I am playing more in the 8 board instant tournaments, since I can finish one on my lunch break. And to be fair, there are about as many examples where the current GIB's actions are more effective than in the past, than where they are less. Perhaps the trend is even a net positive. But here is a hand where GIB is now taking a silly action it avoided before.

http://tinyurl.com/o7cd8g6

The auction proceeded various ways at other tables. One bid it exactly as I did - I would never bid this way against humans, but I thought it likely that GIB would allow me to play 4S undoubled with 4H making. And even if I were doubled, -2 for a good save was quite possible. But at no table under the previous version(s) of GIB did N feel the need to bid 5D!!!

So tell me Georgi, what attempt at an UPgrade caused GIB to make this blunder?

Note - the hand I copied (inadvertently) was the hand that was bid the same way mine was through 4S.

The tournament was previous played using Version 28 or lower, since the 8421 descriptions were removed in Version 29.

The annoying thing is 4 is described as 20-21 hcp with strong rebiddable . Doesn't that sound like a strong 2 opening?! Which iandayne didn't make so doesn't have that hand.

Why cant you sacrifice without Gib thinking you have a monster?!

But it still doesn't explain why Gib with 2 opposite strong rebiddable suit wants to take a stab in the dark with 5.

Sarcasm is a state of mind

1 opening is defined as 11-21HCP; 12-22TP. GIB, internally consistently, has placed Ian at the tippy top of that range. GIB thinks Ian has something like: AKQxxxx, AJx, Kx, A; GIB does not include full shortness points for suits including honors, so that hand is 21HCP, 22TP.

A recurring complaint, which presumably will take major programming to overcome.

This is the bottom line! (Unless North thinks slam is possible if North has the hand I described above, and is trying to investigate.)

Tried to replicate as with couple of dozens ( in new version ) it doesn't replicate and GIB stayed calm on 4M.

Neither do old. It also stayed with small amount of hands.

Then after some increase of bigger test new version has actually still 0% proceeding here after 3K hands simming.

But old one had 447 x 5 after also 3K hands.

So i believe similar tempted partners will not be encountered. Or let say in much less cases if any.
