I'm still waiting for ArtK78. Should we avoid pairing mutual friends maybe? Or do I need to unfriend everyone in the tournament? :P

I cannot play on Friday or Saturday, which is why I challenged Art yesterday (Tuesday) and played the boards then too.

I see though that Art never posts here, so what can I do other than post in this thread to warn him before I challenge and play? I know the challenge is not lost yet, I'm just curious what correct procedure is.

Clearly we dont know who are friends, and this is a tournament so even if we know we just pair based on Swiss rules:) So if the person you are playing against is your friend, you should probably contact him first and make sure that he plays on time. Sorry - if he doesn't play, given he did not really accept - I think you have to play again:)

If in doubt, I think un-friending, challenging, and re-friending works.

I contacted artk and explained he is registered:) As suspected, he was unaware of the tournament - I think he will finish all his games.

I don't understand how you can register to a tournament but being unaware of it?

I know the results are sent to my mailbox. Do we forwarded that to here or is there a copy/paste function to record the results?

When you have opened the result in your mailbox, click "open in a new window", go to that window and copy the link. Then open this thread and reply to the OP. Remove the quote and paste that link, add the names and IMPs manually. You may click "Preview Post" to make sure it looks more or less like how others are posting their results.

On defense, do the robots signal to each other? If yes, is the low card discard encouraging?

You can read about the robot's defense on the GIB System Notes page.

The robots give attitude signals on the opening lead, otherwise count signals.

Off-topic I know (sorry, this is best continued elsewhere to avoid cluttering up this thread), but GIB definitely doesn't follow the rules as described in the notes. See eg http://www.bridgebas...nding-with-gib/ . It would be nice if they were updated to what GIB actually does do.

What's written in the notes is my best understanding of how the GIB code works. There are some comments in the code that explain what it's supposedly doing, and that's what I put into the web page.

I think there's some random variation to keep it from being too predictable, but I'm not sure. I specifically remember seeing some code that randomizes the card when splitting honors, because of restricted choice.

I played my match against xavierf, but it is still red. So he has not played.
