1. Is this one of those times Jeff Rubens advocates for 1NT?
I'll try 2C.
2. 3H.
3. 3C.
4. 6S. i was tempted to bid 6C but partner might drive to seven with KQJTxxx, -, AQxx, Ax.

1) 1NT (too much to pass, not enough to force to game)
2) 3 followed by a diamond bid. I give up on 3NT.
3) DBL playing with an expert partner
4) 5NT just in case partner will bid hearts.

Hi,

#1 2H, I will raise 2S to 3S
#2 5D, ..., 2 NT as some artifical bid would be helpful
#3 3C
#4 5H, ... what ever partner thinks it is, I have it
With kind regards
Uwe Gebhardt (P_Marlowe)

1. 2
2. Dbl - 3 H takes up too much room, need to know more about partner's hand. Game in NT or either minor is still possible.
3. Pass
4. 6

1. 2S - too much for pass and everything else feels too wrong.
2. Double
3. Pass
4. 6S should be reasonable

2s p may be taking a conservative route -- since we are far from broke it seems best at IMPS to keep things going and 2s looks like the smallest lie.

3c cant mess around with 2s since that could easily be competitive and NF. x does not help in any way shape or form. 3c keeps things going and gives us our best shot at finding strain and level.

pass very much want to compete to 3c but we have the wrong kinds of values (queens) for minor suit game and unsure we can keep partner quiet if we bid here. There is also that risk vs reward thing not sure any reward available but can certainly see risk.

6s no way to search for 7 so might as well bid what we think we can make. Rho certainly thinks we can make a lot.

1. I like 1NT. Just a bit light to try 2. Also, 1NT gives partner room to cue 2 and show a monster hand.
2. Dbl
3. Pass
4. 5NT, then 6

From the responses so far, methinks people are grossly overbidding on 2.

3 isnt very interesting imo. You need to be marking on the Nigel scale for anything except pass to score points

1. 1NT, particularly if Timo is my partner ;)
2. X, though I would like to know what 2NT would be before pulling the card out
3. Pass
4. Whichever of 5 or Pass followed by 5/6 is our FNJ

I would think a double on #2 would have to be considered cooperative unless the opponents are stark raving idiots. Partner has heard the auction and knows that sitting in front of the heart bidder the double has to be more on general "cards" than hearts.
