I have Bridge Baron 17 on my old laptop and want transfer it to my new laptop but I cannot find the disc.

I tried simply copying it to my new laptop but it says "Error reading Std Am with Strong Two Bids profile!".
I can click past this and see greyed out sort of BB screen but it is not useable.

The copy on the USB stick it works from the stick in my old laptop (win 7) but in my new laptop (win 11) it gives the Error

Any suggestions?

Googling finds exactly the same error message for someone moving Bridge Baron 15 8 years ago, with the suggested answer being updating a registry key, if this helps:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Great Game Products\Bridge Baron 15\Settings] "Program Directory"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Great Game Products\\Bridge Baron 15\\"

In that case program defaults to search hard coded c:\Program Files\ (instead of c:\Program Files (x86)\ directory)

Are there not high security protocols to prevent a software game from being easily copied from one device to another to another to another etc?

Are you following the high security process?

I know I have a baseball thingy I just call the company to transfer over for me when I get a new laptop in the middle of the baseball season.
