This spectacular board risked being forgotten at Christmas.

Options are 4H or 5H or 4C
Reject 2S
Will try 4H now and 5 clubs over 4s by opponents

5h immediately will just require pard to auto bid 6.

The most important thing is NOT to bid partners spade shortness for them.
See Justin's well known quote..

Still waiting for cyberyeti to chime in with a void splinter, mikeh to write a treatise on when to bid 4 and Davidkok to deprecate all the jump bids :)

FWIW I would bid 4 comfortably here. I would be more inclined to consider 2NT if the void was in diamonds.

For those who find 4 wtp here, what would you bid if two or three of your spades became clubs?

And what was Justin's well known quote?

Hand not good enough for void splinter, happy with 4, probably 3 with 5332

4. Why give the opponents any bidding room?

Are you counting CHO? :)

I think the 5332 hand is a very different prospect from this one, from partner's perspective. Unless you have no hope of slam looking at this hand and the auction.

I only have realistic hope of slam with this hand if spades are raised.

North will raise spades to game on the actual layout. But even if not, opener might have A and they a clubs fit to tweak LoTT.

Your call now as East?

Would it differ if partner had bid 4 (as a non GF splinter) instead?

I would bid differently over 4, but only because 4 would be a fit jump, following the rule about only splintering in the opponent's suit.

We would play 3 as fit, and 4 as a void splinter, but better hand than this

I suspect that Pass, 4NT and 5 were all popular at the club.
But 5 it is.

Your call as West now (based on your hand and the auction) ?
