I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

that, at imps, you can better afford a small swing than a large one, and that this might be a double swing hand.
unless my P opens on junk in 3rd seat, r vs w, I might just bid 4S: my AQ of hearts looks like the AK to me, blame it on poor vision. The way I play, if P is light in 3rd seat, then the bid has some lead-directional purpose. Holding the ace of spades, that seems less likely on this hand unless rho has psyched and plans to run if you double (which might be the correct bid- I don't know). Then you're faced with the same problem when rho runs. Perhaps, if you just bid 4S, red vs white, rho might take out what seems like insurance and sac. Very interesting hand. What would you lead if you doubled and it went pass-pass-pass?

Looks like 3NT may very well be based on long clubs. I might try 4S.

Pass is pretty obvious. The immediate 3NT bid can be based on a long running suit and a stopper in the opponents's suit, or on a strong balanced hand. There is no reason whatsoever to suggest you can make anything more than 3NT on this hand.

If you do want to move, not on this hand of course, a nice gadget is that 4C is an ask; now 4 new suit shows a long suit, 4 of their suit the strong balanced hand and 4NT a strong C suit.

I think you misunderstood, Ron. Partner opened 1 and RHO overcalled 3NT.

Agree with Double!. Or what about a fit-bid of 4?.

Quite right Helene. Different situation altogether.

Post was changed. It was originally p-p-3S-3NT.

Bid 4S. You have chance to make it. And you are not sure if you can set 3N.

Double and lead A, if partner encourages, play Q, and strip his so he is endplayed and has to play . If he discourages, we will need to pray on a switch and that partner reads the position.

4. RHO has a solid minor and Kx(x). Nice to know that the spade finesse is on. Double is waste of time, since rigthy will pull to 4 of his minor if lefty hasn't done it already (4 pass or correct).

There is a case for pass, however, as long as partner is on the same wavelength. I will lead A and get to his hand in one of the red suits (depending on dummy and partner's signal at trick 1).

If only he will lead a spade through next. Can I rely on that?

That's too much to hope for. They won't sit for it, and if they do, it will probably make!

I think that 3NT bidder has a long solid minor hand with a stopper, probably Kx(x) . If I double they will probably run if I can beat 3NT and pass if I can't get to partner in time.

Since I have hopes for beating 3NT, (I will lead A and if partner encourages, Q and then 10 to strip him of his hearts until he overtakes with the K , and has no choice but to lead Spades, (make things easy for your partner I always say :) ). I expect to find a x in dummy although it is possible to be unlucky and dummy comes down with a stiff Q.

If partner discourages on A lead, dummy will show me if declarer has solid or , and I will obviously play the other suit to get to partner's hand so he can play .

It is very possible that we can get the first 8 or 9 tricks against 3NT, but that we have 5 quick losers in 4. I would try for the plus score and Pass.

4S seems right.

I don't think a lead directing 4H bid is right, since it is very unlikely that partner is going to be on lead. Therefore, partner will probably interpret this as a far more distributional hand.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
