Saying 4 shows "2+ H" is pretty optimistic, I think it almost always shows exactly 2. Anyway, this is not the kind of heart suit I wanted GIB to pass 4 with! GIB should prefer 5.

Wouldn't be 3 better rebid then 3?
That would respectively explain your hand as: 5+ ; 4+ ; 14+ total points; forcing to 3N

The coming bid by North might be again 4, denying stopper/values in , but you could take better decision what to do at that moment.

Even if North had 6 hearts, the singleton spade will force North to ruff with AK.

But as North sees its hand, based on what conclusion contract should be corrected to 5.

Rebiddable should be taken as 5+, you didn't guaranteed 6+ with 3. So your hand could be still 2335 or 3235.

I would certainly bid 3 with 2335 and would very likely bid 2NT with 3235.

Agreed. Does GIB not bid 2N over 2 because his spades are too weak?

GIB seems to avoid rebidding 2NT in 2/1 auctions, even when it does have a stopper in both unbid suits. It almost always rebids its suit. Does it play that 2NT shows extra?
