2 SJS, doesn't guarantee more than a solid GF with the fit type for us, but I play a 4+ card club, I presume playing T-Walsh you transfer.

Hi,

you start with introducing your suit, I guess this is 1D,
than you await further development.
Discovering a 6-4 heart fit would be great, Transfer Walsh
will make it clear, if you have with partners response to 1D.

Maybe partner tells you he is bal, he will tell you.

With kind regards

Just my opinion, but if partner can be 25 here, I do not like the opening bid of 1. Too much emphasis on bending a perfectly good opening bid of 1 to accommodate a conventional bid.

On the hand in question, with T-Walsh I would bid 1 and await developments. Using T-Walsh does not stop you using 4SF if you need to. I want partner to describe his hand and go from there.

2 4SGF? If you play XYZ here you should be able to show the hand, but I personally do not.

Does 1 show 5+ and 4+ or could it show a balanced hand?

In any case, 2 as 4th suit forcing for now.

But in my main partnership this is what we play and it seems to work well, based on about a thousand deals or more, including a world championship event (our indifferent showing wasn’t due to any issues with this treatment) and two regionals where, in 8 events….all teams…we had four wins, three seconds and a third.

We do have a lot of agreements in constructive auctions, including sometimes finding the 5 card suit. In the meantime, the transfers win lots of imps and the unbalanced diamond opening can be very helpful as well

On the OP, the initial 1D seems obvious to me, but that’s just the start of the journey

Edit…just saw opener’s rebid. 2D for now

Cannot answer unless we know how the auction progresses after XYX. Opener in normal XYZ has shown 5C and 4S. I bid 2D GF now to hear more. What does he respond? If opener can have 5 cards in D I really dislike this, but up to you. Anyway what happens after 2D and what are your other normal continuations?<br>

Natural denying a Weak NTish type hand, implying long

What do you mean "implying long clubs"? Does opener have long Clubs or not? Can he still have 5 Ds the way you bid?

He surely can't have 5, 4/5 is unlikely to be a 1 opener (I presume only has 5 in a 3352/(32)53)

The question is whether he can be 4243 and whether this bids spades or NT

24SF is easy first step

No to 5
4243 weak would complete the transfer and wait for responder to show via 1NT, relay to 1NT or Pass

I expect that one only has 5 diamonds in a 5332 shape, iow a balanced hand. This approach is consistent with 1D promising an unbalanced hand.

Thus 1C 1D 1S shows at least 4=5 in the blacks.

Fourth suit forcing? Hardly. I would suggest either Weak Transfers or an XYZ 2D GF.
